One of the saddest days in California, but the nation as well, as an estimated 20,000 people lined up on 25.5 miles of South Central streets of Los Angeles at Nipsey Hussle’s memorial service procession.

On March 31, Nipsey Hussle’s life ended from a fatal shooting in front of his clothing store, ‘The Marathon’. The shooter has since been identified and arrested. The news of Nipsey Hussle’s death brought the South Central – Crenshaw  community he served to a stand still. As word spread, to the greater Los Angeles and national entertainment community – the shock and disbelief of Nipsey’s death was massive and deeply painful. Yet another inspirational soldier lost to the very violence he fought against in his mission to elevate via economic empowerment of the African American/POC community he served.

Nipsey Hussle’s Family – longtime girlfriend, Lauren London and children.

Nipsey Hussle’s funeral service took place at the Staples Center where those inspired by the rapper, entrepreneur, activist could pay their respects. Nipsey’s family and friends gave moving words of Nipsey’s love and influence- he was a wonderful son, father and partner to Lauren London. His mother of course, gave the most emotional speech of all, stating “I want to encourage you to choose a vegan lifestyle. I want to encourage you to let [go of] your use of alcoholic beverages and narcotic substances. I want to tell you that we come from royalty and regality. I want to tell you that we are very loving and kind and a spiritual race of people. I want to tell you that we are very traumatized and pressurized people.

Snoop took the podium, sharing his stories of ‘his ‘twin’ Nipsey. Snoop furthered his tribute and appreciation of his friend by saying, “This man got a letter from Barack Obama, man,” Snoop said.
